Pura Vida!
One term you should be familiar with when visiting Costa Rica is “Pura Vida”. Simply translated, it means “simple life” or “pure life”, but in Costa Rica, it is more than just a saying—it is a way of life. The Costa Rican people tend to be much more relaxed and worry free. There really is no need to worry when you are in paradise. Pura Vida is both a greeting and a goodbye, an answer to the question, “How are you?” and an expression uttered—perhaps shouted—at joyous occasions.
This sums up the relaxing and exhilarating experience for Betsy and her sister-in-law Pat on a Road Scholar trip in 2019. “A taste of Costa Rica”. We hiked in cloud forests and on volcanic trails, learned about biodiversity and delicate ecosystems and savored the art of coffee making and good conversation with the new friends we met sharing our journey. Adventures included rafting, a river cruise, navigating hanging bridges, and getting up-close and personal with a two-towed sloth, a deadly poisonous eyelash pit-viper, beautiful hummingbirds and poison dart frogs.
The adventure featured visits to three areas: the tropical rainforest in Sarapiqui, the foothills of the active Volcano Arenal, and the Cloud Forest at Monteverde. So join us on our adventures…. pour a glass of rum and explore the links below to see galleries of images from our trip.
