We signed up for an early-morning photo tour of Lower Antelope Canyon. Owned and operated by Navajo, this amazing slot canyon was formed by centuries of water flow and whistling winds cutting through Navajo Sandstone.
We were the only two on our tour and we started out across the hard sandstone surface led by our Navajo guide Brady, who was quite an accomplished photographer. We soon came to the slot and carefully descended into a majestic wonderland of spectacular colors and natural waves in the rocks. Brady knew the best spots for photos and he gingerly guided us through the narrow and twisting passageways. About halfway through we encountered a tour group coming from the opposite direction which posed some photo challenges, but we were very pleased to have much of the canyon to ourselves – apparently a rare treat.
