We heard about this eclectic location from a few of our photo friends. At first glance, Nervous Nellie’s Jams and Jellies is a quaint shop featuring delicious homemade jams and jellies. But it doesn’t take long to see that there is much, much more to marvel at and photograph.
The tiny shop is filled with delicious shelf goods, housewares, gifts and clever things made by Maine artisans – a cross between classy and rustic.
But the craziness begins outside the jelly shop with multiple structures around the shop, and bizarre sculptures tucked in the woods. Sculptures made by the owner from discarded metal, locally-milled lumber, dump-foraged material include a Western town including a jail, lawyer’s office, fortune teller, hotel, saloon, Chinese laundry–sits shoulder to shoulder with a Delta-style juke joint, a Deer Isle general store, a church, a Grail castle, wizard’s tower, and a 50’s garage complete with a jam session.
